Mom's need to know their "Patient's Rights" while they are in the hospital. Mother's can show their rights by coming across confident and REFUSE the formula/formula bags, the bottles and the pacifiers that are forced on them. Patient's can project their confidence and DEMAND their right to breastfeed their baby for every feeding.
Crib cards are essential to place in the infant's bassinet in the nursery to pass the "Breastfeeding Message" on to the nurses. It is also important to have the Physician write in Mom's chart that she needs to be woken up in the evening and in the wee hours to nurse her baby. If this is not requested in the chart, the nurses will administer the bottled formula to the infant which will compromise the Mom's efforts in breastfeeding. Furthermore, the Mother can come across more assertive by having the baby's Doctor write in the baby's chart " bottles and pacifiers are not to be administered to the baby".

Mom's also need to know their rights to breastfeed in public in Florida. It is a Florida law. Mother's can come across proactive again and demonstrate their rights by carrying a card with them at all times. If anyone gives them a hard time, they can be prepared and issue a Public Breastfeeding card to them.
